It’s a fact of life that there will be times when a genuine apology is required, but many of the actions that actually elicit an “I’m sorry” aren’t anything to be contrite over.
Luckily, some of these behaviors have come to our attention through the trending topic, a perfect reminder that living authentically ― and embracing all of your flaws, needs and personality traits ― is the way to go. Research shows that self acceptance may be the key to a happier life but it’s a habit many people rarely practice.
Below are just a few things that absolutely don’t deserve an apology. Sorry, not sorry.
Never apologies for any of the followings.
Always stand up for yourself and your close ones. Rising in defense of yourself or someone else, especially against any sort of unwarranted aggression is always the right choice to make.
Making choices that honor your needs
This includes, speaking the truth, being yourself, making the right choices, eliminating folks and doing things for yourself.
Having a unique personality
Be who you are. Never be apologetic for being yourself.
Cutting out toxic individuals
Leaving negative people behind in 2016 who have nothing to do with your progression. Some people and their negative mindsets and comments are a bad idea to have around you, as they only serve to pull you down.
Expressing an opinion
Speaking your mind about certain topics. Don’t be silenced because someone doesn’t agree.
Learning to say NO
Respecting your own limitations is a sign of self respect. If you cannot give 100 percent to something, you should never apologise for saying no. The ability to say no is a sign of a good leader.
Living life on your own terms
Being your authentic true self is one of the keys to achieving happiness, and you should never have to apologise for it. Rather, apologise for all the times you are not.
Loving who you love
Narcissist? Pessimist? Whatever it is, be yourself.
Feeling any emotion deeply
It’s not a crime to be sensitive.
Indulging in the finer things of life
Eating an entire pizza by yourself? That’s normal. If you can afford it, and it doesn’t negatively affect anybody – by all means, do it.
A life lived with regrets is yours to miss. Never apologies for following a dream because that dream makes you who you are. You will never be fulfilled unless you live your dreams instead of not doing anything about it, and letting it remain just that – a dream.
It’s a new year, let’s get our priorities straight. Never allow anyone to make you feel guilty over your priorities. Always take care of your own priorities first. If it’s important to you then it is important. The people who matter will respect your choice.
Often, we apologies because we worry too much about what other people think, or because we put their feelings above our own needs. These are the situations where an apology is unnecessary.
