Seven people were arrested on Tuesday in a clash between police and proteters during a hartal enforced by Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) protesting gas price hike, at Shahbagh intersection in the capital.
The arrestees are general president of student front of left party Nasiruddin Prince, Vojon, Rahat and Nayan.
The clash took place around 11:00am when police spreaded teargas and used water cannons on protesters to disperse them.
Earlier on Friday, CPB and BSD called the hartal in the capital from 6am to 12 noon protesting the gas price hike.
