Bangladesh began their Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2017 campaign with a comfortable 8 wickets victory over Hong Kong in the opening match at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium, Cox’s Bazar on Monday.
Winning the toss, Hong Kong scored 125 in 35.1 overs losing all wickets. Babar Hayat scored 37 runs which is the highest score for the tourists.
Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque captured 3-11 and his deputy Nasir Hossain 3-18.
Bangladesh required only 16.1 overs to reach their target of 126 runs.
Saif’s unbeaten knock of 57 and Nazmul’s 24 helped the hosts win with eight wickets to spare.
For Hong Kong, Waqas and Ehsan managed to pick up a wicket each during their spells today.
Bangladesh’s next match is on 28 March against Nepal at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground, Cox’s Bazar.
Eight Under-23 teams divided into two groups are taking part in the meet.
India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Malaysia have been drafted in Group A while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Pakistan and Nepal.
