Comilla City Corporation campaigning ends Tuesday

Campaigning will end for Comilla City Corporation (CCC) polls candidates on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, RAB and BGB personnel will be deployed in the CCC area from Tuesday morning till end of the polls slated for March 30, EC sources said.

He also informed that 27 officials would perform their duties as observers at the centers on the polls day.
As per an order, people who are not residents or voters of Comilla City Corporation won’t be allowed to stay in the polling area.

Those who will try to breach the order to influence the election will have to face legal actions.

Another ban on plying of motorbikes has been imposed by the district administration in Comilla city area from Monday midnight.

Former CCC mayor Monirul Hoque Shakku and ruling AL-nominated candidate Anjum Sultana Sima are vying for mayoral post with BNP and AL tickets.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) leader Shirin Akter and Major (Retd) Mamunur Rashid (Independent) are also in the mayoral race, while 40 reserved (women) councilors are contesting for nine posts and 74 general councilors are contesting for 27 posts.

As per EC record, there are 2,07,384 registered voters in Comilla city. Of them, 1,02,329 are males and 1,05,055 females.
