The European Union envoy in Dhaka Pierre Mayaudon today expressed his hope that all political parties in the country will take part in the next general election scheduled for early 2019.
He also said the EU has a universal agenda to promote a free, fair and inclusive election, and “it is their wish to see Bangladesh responds to that pillar.”
Talking to a select group of journalists at EU office in Dhaka ahead of the Europe Day to be celebrated tomorrow, he said there have been some lessons learned from the last election held on January 5, 2014.
“There have been some lessons that will lead to a proper approach,” he said and hoped that the next election will be an occasion of all the citizens of Bangladesh.
