MM Ruhul Amin joined the judicial service in 1967
He served as the chief justice of Bangladesh from June 1, 2008 to December 22, 2009
MM Ruhul Amin, who served as the 16th chief justice of Bangladesh, has passed away at the age of 74.
He breathed his last on Tuesday morning, Supreme Court Registrar General Aminul Islam told the Bangla Tribune.
The former chief justice was undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital after a surgery.
Ruhul Amin served as the chief justice from June 1, 2008 to December 22, 2009.
He had been serving as the chairman of Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission since 2004, adds the UNB.
Born on December 23, 1942 in Lakshmipur, Ruhul Amin joined the judicial service in 1967 after graduating from Dhaka University.
He became a district judge in 1984 and served as a district and sessions judge in four districts before being promoted as a High Court judge.
