Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia appeared before a special court in Dhaka on Monday to attend the hearing on Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Khaleda appeared before Judge Abu Ahmed Jomadar of Special Judge Court-3 at Bakshibazar around 11:25 am.
On January 26, the court fixed January 30 as the date of hearing and asked the BNP chairperson to appear before it. In case she fails to comply, her bail would be cancelled, the court warned.
On July 3, 2008, the Anti Corruption Commission filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against six including Zia and her son Tarique Rahman.
It alleged that the defendants had embezzled Tk 2.10 lakh from funds meant for the trust, which reportedly came from a foreign bank.
