Retired Secretary Nazrul Islam has been appointed as new Chairman of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) for a three-year term on Tuesday.
A 1977 batch BCS administrative cadre officer Nazrul Islam got retirement as secretary of LGRD and Cooperative Ministry in 2008.
During his long 31-year bureaucratic carrier he held various administrative posts including Deputy Commissioner of Kustia and Chittagong and Director General of Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development in Comilla and Directorate of Primary Education, said a RAKUB press release here today.
Born in a respectable Muslim family in Char Nabipur village under Shahjadpur Upazila in Sirajgonj district Mr Islam obtained graduation with honours and post-graduation degrees in Political Science from Rajshahi University in 1970 and 1971 respectively.
