The Supreme Court on Thursday scrapped a High Court order and cleared the way for holding election of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) scheduled to be held on May 14.
The High Court on March 22 stayed the process for holding the FBCCI election for two months.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order.
Barrister Imtiaz Mainul Islam, a lawyer for FBCCI, said there is no legal bar for the authorities concerned to hold FBCCI elections on May 14 following the Supreme Court order.
Mymensingh Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Aminul Haque Shamim filed the petition saying that there are anomalies in the voter list as his name was not included in the list.
