Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Sunamganj on Sunday morning to see for herself the woes of the flood-affected haor people, reports BSS.
She will visit flashflood-hit haor areas and distribute relief goods among affected people on Shahid Ali High School ground at Shalla upazila headquarters.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a meeting with the officials where she would give necessary directives to overcome the situation.
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, State Minister for Finance MA Mannan, State Minister for Water Resources Nazrul Islam are accompanying the prime minister.
Flash floods triggered by early monsoon submerged vast swathes of the country’s northeastern region damaging Boro paddy just a few days ahead of harvesting and putting the livelihoods of thousands of farmers at risk.
Sunamganj, Sylhet, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Netrakona and Brahmanbaria districts were affected mostly by the floods.
