The Team Attendant has placed 10th position in the 2017 University Rover Challenge, an international design and fabrication competition where teams showcase potential next-generation Mars rovers and compete to solve space astronomical tasks. 82 teams from 13 countries have participated in University Rover Challange-2017. Team Attendant is represented from Independent University, Bangladesh.
The University Rover Challenge (URC) held June 1-3 at the Mars Desert Research Station in Hanksville, Utah. The event is sponsored by the Mars Society. The URC is designed to demonstrate the fundamentals of remote robotic travel and task completion. The Utah desert is used for the annual competition because it resembles the rocky terrain of Mars.
Al Arabi, Team Leader of Team Attendant says, ` IUB Attendant has achieved the glory of being in 10th position. Ya Bangladesh is world’s one of the top 10 Mars rover builder. It was a tremendous challenge to compete against universities like Cornell, Michigan, California (http://urc.marssociety.org/home/team-info) etc. and defeating them in such complicated challenges.
We took part with a rover built from scratches and materials that cost merely 10% of their rover. But yet with tremendous hardworking and dedication, we uphold our country. Out emotions went over the boundary when we put our flag with such a pride.
Thanks to every single person who supported us. It’s just a matter of time when we will be in the no 1 position of space research.
Special thanks to CSE, IUB for funding and all the support.’
