Election to 18 upazila parishads under different districts will be held on Monday with the battle of ballot expected to take place mainly between the ruling Awami League and BNP candidates.
The Election Commission (EC) has taken all preparations for peacefully holding the local government polls.
Casting of votes will begin at 8:00am and continue till 4:00pm without any break.
The EC will send election materials to the polling stations on Sunday. Members of different law-enforcing agencies, including Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), were deployed on Saturday in the polling areas.
They will stay there for four days.
The EC has set up law enforcement coordination cell at its secretariat to monitor the election.
The cell will inform the EC of law and order situation of the polling areas on the voting day, an EC source said.
Four executive magistrates and a judicial magistrate have been appointed for election to three upazila parishads for three posts while two executive magistrates and a judicial magistrate in each upazila where by-polls will be held, said election officials.
Voting for three posts will be held on three upazilas – Osmaninagar in Sylhet, Guimara in Khagrachari and Jagannathpur in Sunamganj.
By-election for chairman post will be held at Kurigram Sadar, Sujanagar in Pabna, Banaripara in Barisal, Gournadi, Kathalia in Jhalakathi, Rangabali in Patuakhali, Adarsh Nagar in Comilla, Boraigram in Natore and Hoshenpur in Kishorganj.
By-polls for vice-chairman post will hold at Chauddagram in Comilla, Jaldhaka in Nilphamari, Kalaroa in Satkhira and Morelganj in Bagerhat while female vice chairman post will hold at Ishwardi in Pabna and Comilla Sadar south Upazila.
