The World Water Day is being observed in the country, as elsewhere across the globe, today (Wednesday) with a theme ‘Water and Wastewater’.
WaterAid Bangladesh, in association with HSBC Bangladesh and Sajida Foundation, will arrange a programme at T&T Adarsha Girls’ High School, Wireless Gate, Mohakhali marking the day.
CEO of HSBC Bangladesh Francois de Maricourt, Director of Fundraising & Learning of WaterAid Bangladesh Dr Imrul Kayes Muniruzzaman will, among others, be present at the programme.
Thousands of school children will take part in the programme through various colourful activities with much enthusiasm.
World Water Day is held annually onMarch 22 as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
To celebrate it as an international day was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), reports UNB.
